Him and the boyfriend didn't seem to have any trouble dealing with them. A few punches and roundhouse kicks would have cleared the room. We have no reason to believe that the goblins were strong or possessed any form of hand to hand combat skills.

Ah, but keep in mind, the goblins have the sacred power of the Stonehenge Magic Stone, although what that power is exactly is not quite clear. Still, they could always be ready to launch some sort of mega-attack when you least expect it.
But in all honesty, you're right. They were pretty clumsy in goblin form and once you knock those spears out of their hands they're about as dangerous as your average piano bench.
