What kind of ending was that?

Spoilers ahead, obviously.

So my question is mostly: was there a different ending or something that was deleted because it made the film too long, or, perhaps, too good? Because I have SO MANY questions about the end.

1. Why didn't the Goblins die? Or, that is to say, why did they come back to life? I thought they were all killed.

2. Why is the apple Goblin food? Presumably, the mother recognizes the refrigerated apples as those that were left behind. Did the goblins switch the apples or something? Or did she eat something at the party that turned her into Goblin food?

3. What happened to all the other characters? Did Arnold and the other two dudes just sit there and turn into plant food and die?

3b. Why doesn't the boyfriend care that his three best friends disappeared and probably died? He's pretty well put together.

Those are my three biggest questions. I'm going to give the double decker bologna sandwich a pass, although I have several questions just regarding that.

All in all, this was not even close to the worst movie I've seen, but it is certainly close to the "Best Worst Movie" as I was expecting from the documentary's title.

I have something to say about that ending: It reminded me of the scene in Lucio Fulci's ZOMBIE when Tisa Farrow & gang come across the zombies feasting on Olga Karlato's nude corpse but with lots of green goo instead of buckets of red syrup. That scene alone was worthy of an R-rating (there are others in the film as well) and given that it happens in front of her young son, truly bizarre.
I just recently saw TROLL 2 for the first time (via Netflix streaming). I am a new convert. It really is a trash masterpiece.

The ending was partly logical. Presumably the family of four who were originally to trade houses with the Waits made it there, albeit late, and switched their food for goblin food. Elliott was thinking only of Holly and abandoned his friends to whom he was so devoted, which makes a little less sense as they should have been out looking for the two missing ones. That's all I got...but the ending really did provide a classic twist after thinking they were home safe.
