Popcorn sex? Urinating on food? The implication that Josh's dad is about to undo his belt and beat him? Who writes this stuff? That's something other than bad. Whoever wrote this script is my hero.
shareI recommend Best Worst Movie, if you haven't seen it already. It's all about how this film was made and the cult following it developed. Like you, I assumed the director/writer knew he was making a comedy, like Hennenlotter did when he made Basket Case. But at recent troll 2 screenings documented in BWM, the director seems genuinely puzzled by the audiences reaction.

And what's hilarious is that all the staff members and actors are all aware of how this movie is actually really funny because it is so horribly bad.
BUT, the director (whos wife wrote the screenplay) is completely oblivious to this fact and still thinks it's a great film that deals with serios issues like family and bonding.
You can actually tell how he gets angrier and angrier through the documentary when he realises that the cult following this film, not loving it for the same reasons he does. When he starts calling the actors "dogs" I actually LOL'ed by myself.
