It is important to remember that the Kabbalah is a branch of jweish learning, not a book. The book to which the characters refer is actually called the Zohar and, yes, you can get one at B&N. Hope this helps. :)

It means both and is used both ways. The idea of a soul-mate or bashert (also called a zivug, or partner) is not only in Kabbalah, but also in the gemora/talmud. Also, the Zohar has many, many layers of meaning. Just because you understand the translation of the words doesn't mean a thing. I hope this helps.

kabbalah is a branch of jewish learning, that is extremely hard to understand, and, generally, only very pious men are on a level that can understand it. it is said that only men over 40 should read it, because generally they will be the only ones that can grasp and comprehend such a subject matter.
try to think of a color that doesn't exist. not a variation of a color, but an altogether new color. you can't. so to with kabbalah. only those that are truly god fearing and pious, does god grant them the ability to comprehend it.
Zivoog in Hebrew means partner or partner to be (in marriage). Zoog means pair or couple.
In the U.S. this word is zivik-or-zivig- in Yiddish (originally Hebrew). :)
