Melanie Griffith goes Jewish
This was one of two films released in 1992 where Melanie played a character who is either Jewish (Shining Through) or assumes a Jewish identity. What made filmmakers think this half-Swedish, half-British, blonde, blue-eyed, peaches-and-cream WASP who once exclaimed in response to finally finding out about the Holocaust that "6 million Jews? Wow, that's a lot of people!" was an ideal choice to play these parts?
