So well done --- open your eyes!

For heaven's sake, a 3.3 rating! Have a sense of humor! This is one of my favorite movies and endless lines in it are so tasteful! How can you not find the premise of this movie to be funny? I don't understand why it's regarded as a flop.

Estelle Getty is so darn cute and likeable in this role and down right hilarious. Even this dialogue cracks me up everytime: "I just can't get over your driving. Oh mom, I've been driving for 20 years". There's so many funny lines like this. A cute old lady hustling the tough guys selling illegal guns from their van, that's great humor! "Make sure to include the extra clip!"

Even the action in this movie is pretty good. It's a perfect family film.

I just don't understand what goes on in your minds for being so tough on a funny film like this. You'll watch some dumb 2005 era Leo DiCaprio/Matt Damon movie where the whole film is just a long tunnel of emptiness, mumbling dialogue, and gritty action, but 4-stars for that cause that's brilliant! The dumber it is, the more America likes it!

I agree, its not meant 2 be an oscar winner, its just a fun family movie!

"When your down here with me you'll float too!!"

There is nothing funny about "Oh, mom, I've been driving for twenty years." How do you find this funny, even a little bit?

Because it's a perfect reflection of how real moms act, just exaggerated a lot. You've been driving for 20 years and your mom still can't accept it, that's pretty funny to me.

It's funny to me too

"When your down here with me you'll float too!!"

Well before watching the movie I read your post and tried to then keep my "eyes open" as I was watching the movie - it didn't work. The movie is bad, and I don't mean bad in a good way (like Cobra). I didn't laugh once. The mom was super-annoying. I fully understand why that man from the last scene had shot his mother.

A perfect family film? This movie is far too confused tonally to be suitable for young children. It tries to have it both ways by being both cute and gritty, and it just ends up a shambles. The surprising amount of swearing doesn’t help either. Many of the actors clearly don’t know what kind of movie they’re in, but that’s understandable. I don’t think the director knew what kind of movie he was directing! I love the late Blake Snyder’s books on screenwriting, but the script (which he co-wrote) is terrible. Sylvester Stallone in diapers is funny, but that’s about it. This movie was awful in 1992 and it continues to be awful.

Just watched it last night for the first time. It was pretty good.
His partner thought he was shot and couldnt move his leg until Stallone pulled the glass out of his ass. Or the suicide jumper leaves the ledge and Stallone is on the news yelling at his mom from the roof.

The only thing faster is...Light.Exactly.

So basically, the point of this thread is to assert that you are so superior to the rest of humanity that every movie must be judged by YOUR criterions only. Hey, dissenters have to be sent to a reeducation gulag to be brainwashed into thinking this crap is funny ? You're at the wront time and place…
