I never realized it got banned in the UK.
sharewas only banned from being shown on TV.... even though they had an interview with alastair duncan on blue peter about the film... go figure ? :)
you can still find the film on video... took me 5 years from the inital start and i found it in a car boot sale for 10p... that was a good day for me.. also won £10 on lotto that weekend :)
the DVD release for the UK... apparently they never told any of the major supply chains that it was being released on DVD so none of them stocked it, and because it didnt sell they withdrew it form the market after about 6 months...
there are a few region 2 copies of the film out there.. but like the region 1 copies they can and are being sold from £50+
as saw one on ebay couple years ago now... wanted £150

Lol, I do not think I will be spending £150 for it.
Hopefully it will get re-released at some point, and hopefully on Bluray.

i stil own it on video and i know a friend that can transfer vid to dvd so next time i see him going to ask him to do that for me, when i found my copy on video it was at a car boot sale and cost me 10p

Gosh - I've got a Region 1 of this DVD. Didn't think it was rare or anything.
Great cheesy action movie with horror elements.
I recall some sort of interview just after the film came out, possibly in a magazine, where they were talking about Split Second 2. The creature was described as having different appearances at different points in the new story.
One of the things that I always considered when watching the first film, is that it can change it's appearance or possibly make people think it looks different.
I suspect this would be linked to the acquisition of human DNA - ie. it could possibly take on the characteristics of any of it's prior victims.
When watching the film the first time at the cinema, there's the point where Michelle, hanging over the water says "Swing?" in a really odd voice, which made me wonder if the monster was tricking them and she was suddenly going to change shape. Possibly that moment was just designed to make people wonder that...
