Slightly better in the long run than staying in the gang. That's the point, they barely have a guaranteed bright future without Deuce. But they both have no future is they don't get out.
True it's tough to get a job with a felony, but Bobby has to live with that and he'd rather deal with that than be in prison. At least Jimmy has a chance for a much better life. He has two parents and while one is a convicted murderer and the other is a junkie, he's much better off than being with Ray-Ray. Who's very manipulative and will probably do Jimmy like he kinda unintentionally did to Bobby, (but didn't regret it because he profited from it, but had much less of a reason to kill Genie than Bobby did, and probably originally hoped it was him and Bobby instead of him and Bear running thangs, I might add). Regardless, Jimmy was well on his way to being another Fall-Guy like his Daddy was.
Jimmy may still have a bleak future, and speaking from experience, that's ghetto life. However, living in the ghetto is no excuse for becoming a career criminal. You have to find different ways to apply yourself.
Would it be far-fetched to think that Jimmy becomes a Ping-Pong champion like Forest Gump? Sadly, considering his family, injuries, neighborhood and possible educational opportunities, Ping-Pong Champ is his best chance to make something out of himself. But not his only chance. Again speaking from experience, just because you live in a crime-riddle area, doesn't mean you should give up except the worst fates.
