Yet another film for cat lovers to avoid!

And everyone else should too! TERRIBLE film!!

I don't consider myself an animal activist or anything, but I really object to animals being abused in films.

This film is right up there in the Animal Cruelty category with films like Reform School Girls (kitten stomping!!) , Strays, As Good As it Gets, and Pet Sematary 2.

I read that actress Betty White refused to be in As Good As it Gets, because she objected to the treatment of the dog in the film.

I know that most times it is a model/puppet used, but it still upsets me.

I never saw Reform School Girls and probably wouldn't want to see a kitten stomped to death (Even though I don't like cats that much and am severely allergic) but I felt like the cat death scenes in this movie were far too cheesy and fake looking to even get upset about, and I am a HUGE animal lover. I can't watch movies where animals are killed-I get very upset! What happened to the dog in As Good As It Gets??? I thought Jack Nicholson just like threw it down a chute or something but it was fine and lived. Pet Semetary 2 was pretty sick with the rabbit skinning. Also watch out for the movie TWISTED with Christian Slater where he kills a litter of kittens and even THROWS ONE INTO A FIREPLACE!!!!!! I was traumatized by that. Some movies should leave out animal deaths...but for some reason Sleepwalkers didn't disturb me that much.

Eeew, I never saw Twisted with Christian Slater. I had been planning to actually, on the advice of a Christian Slater-fan friend of mine. Now I don't know if I want to.....

Betty White probably didn't like the fact that he dumped it down the chute at all, she's a big animal rights activist big time. I didn't care for the scene either, it wasn't really awful but unneccessary.

Pet Sematary 2- Ohh. please don't get me started either. Disgusting film on many, many levels! :

As for Sleepwalkers, I just thought that the cat violence was unneccesary and bloody (as was the entire film).

Guess kitties have just bewitched my heart!!!...LOL.... :)

Is this movie based upon any of Stephen King's PUBLISHED stories?

reply

nope. touted as his first direct to screen adaptation. but just boring.

Yes. I was hoping that I could find at least a short-story that this movie was based on.
Does anyone know of published writings (by any author) that are similar?
