If this film were released on an April first i'd be tempted to call all this an april fool's joke by Stephen King.
In reality i think that's what it is, a comedy horror that shouldn't be taken seriously at all, if i were the reviewer i'd give this film 10 stars for being the lamest, cheesiest, most poorly 'film' in modern history, and being just plain funny, good old King showing he has a sense of humor. ^^
It ain't the best; but I think it's far from the lamest, cheesiest, or most poorly made. But then again I've seem some incredibly bad movies.
I think you're right about this film and I think a lot of horror, good and bad, needs to be viewed that way. I've gotten hours and hours of entertainment out of lower quality horror movies by simply approaching them with that frame of mind. More like you're just watching a black comedy. And besides, how many "good" horror movies actually horrified you?
Well in all fairness, Hellraiser I&II creeped me out a lot.
I agree with what you said though, people should look at this as a black comedy, to say this is a serious horror film is saying the same about Shaun of the Dead.
