Com'on guys isn't wasn't that bad. Yeah it was bad, but it certainly wasn't one of the worst stephen king adaptions. I thought that some of the shots in the movie were quite nic, especially the part with the slow motion cats. Also the special effects were not that bad for a probably under-bugeted movie. The acting was a little over-the-top and the fact that the police fought like helpless infants annoyed but I think it at least deserves a 7/10
I agree with ur comment i mean the acting was over the top but the film was good for a standard b movie script. U do naturally compare this to modern movies and that might be the mistake and if u have the right frame of mind going into the film it can be rewarding in the both horror and comedy genre for the relationship between charles and his mother. i might be overrating this because i was thirteen when the film came on video and thought it was great because of the rebellion factor but i give this film 7 out of 10. Also watch out for stephen king's cameo as the cemetary caretaker!
I know of mutch worse movies (just an example triple X) that have higher ratings. If you think this deserves 3, then watch some real crap and come back.
I watched this movie when I was about 12, I believe, and though I didn't think it was the best movie, (I actually don't think it's that great) but regardless, I also think it's one of my favorite ones.
But then again, when I was younger it did give me some pretty good nightmares five years ago, and even then I still really loved it.
i watched this after i read the shining. i thought king was a genius. until i saw this. i have seen over 400 horror films and this may have been the worst horror film that i have ever seen. at least cheesy films are letting you know up front that they are cheesy. im afraid if i put it up on ebay for sale i might waste more time on not getting anything in return of this film.
The first time I saw this movie - I thought it was terrible. I hated it more than I could express in words. However, I was about 13 then. I'm 24 now and have seen a lot more horror movies. Unfortunately, DVD seems to be the *only* way now to see and fully appreciate a film, because you can finally see and feel it for what the filmmakers wanted you to (widescreen, surround sound audio, Uncut, Digitally remastered). I bought it about 1 year ago on DVD, having not seen it in almost 1 full decade and not thinking it was even worth the $5.50 I paid when I picked it up out of the Wal-Mart bargain bins- because I remembered how much I hated it, why I hated it, and the DVD itself had NO special features at all (trailers for films OTHER than Sleepwalkers and some dinky Talent Bios do not count). But I gave this movie another watch and... WOW! It literally blew my mind. It was fantastic! It really is a stellar film from a truly underrated director, Mick Garris. And on DVD the movie looks and sounds very good. And I finally feel like I've seen the movie for what it truly is. A very ambitious movie, with a great cast, good effects, and a Top Notch music score from Nicolas Pike - so many great CHILLING moments are generated by the film's music.
Time proves this movie is indeed very good.

A lot of people don't seem to realise that this movie is very tongue-in-cheek, much like Maximum Overdrive. If you take it too seriously, you're just going to be disappointed.
Yeah that movie deserve at least 7/10... It was pretty much good around the time it got out. I was 12 as well when I first saw it and it scared me good back then. Now, having watched it again lately, of course it has a few flaws and stuff, but it is WAY WAY WAY better than many more other wannabe horror movies. AND, on the Stephen King basis, I found many more worst movies that he made instead of Sleepwalkers. Just in example, take up that sh itty Dreamcatcher movie... and that was made not too long ago. In fact, I'd be thrilled if a possible sequel could be made with today's special effects.
An other thing about the movie, that kind-of spooky song that Enya made, Boadicea, pretty wicked!
