Good concept, flawed execution

I like the basic concept, but I hate it when a movie requires characters to act so ineptly that it's just implausible.

I mean, these two are supposed to have lived for centuries, as I recall.

But they are so reckless that they hardly lasted any time at all. How these two could survive a month, let alone longer, is just unbelievable.

Vampires, Highlander, etc. are supposed to be immortal. And they stay immortal by being smart, not drawing attention to themselves.

I mean, if these things can be killed by my cat Marbles, they really ought to be careful.

Much like you, I liked the basic concept but felt the overall execution was flawed. I chalked a lot of their careless behavior to despiration as a result of starvation. Mary was dying of hunger and we don't know how long it's been since she's been fed decently or how long they can go between feedings. Also, their "immortality" is a lot different than that of a Highlander or a regular Vampire. They have a natural predator that exists in great numbers for the sole purpose of exterminating them whereas Vampires and Highlanders have the advantage of having no natural predators.

Also, another point is that for really old creatures they never made any reference to their age either in dialogue or possessions. Which is kind of a good thing but nevertheless would have been nice just to have a concrete answer for something in the film.
