Was this a comedy?
Was this a horror-comedy? I mean the scene in the graveyard was hilarious! and the line after the corn out of all things was stabbed in the man's back "no vegetables, no dessert!" was a big knee slapper as well!

shareI wouldn't necessarily categorize it that way. It was more of a "fun" horror movie. You know, one that would be just plain stupid if it took itself seriously.
shareIt didn't start out as one but it morphed into one.
shareI think this was meant to be a more-or-less serious horror movie-- but enough (exceedingly lame) humor was packed into it to suggest that the intention was for it to be partially an ironic, 'knowing' movie (a la 'Scream' or 'Shaun of the Dead'). Unfortunately, it just doesn't work. It takes itself too seriously to be considered a parody, but it takes itself too lightly to be enjoyed as a hilariously inept attempt at an earnest movie. Not funny, not all that scary or suspenseful, just not a good movie.
shareIf that graveyard scene was better edited to remove a lot of that awkward humor it would end up very effective and brutal. One of these days, I'm going to import the film into Final Cut Pro and try to recut that scene the film.
shareThis was made back in the good old days when horror films could be fun as well as horror. Now days films take themselves far too seriously and don't have the sense of fun this has. No it's not a comedy as such, its just a fun horror film.

Yeah, it seems people forget that most horror films from the 80s to early 90s were very silly and usually light. After Scream, films became more dark (and also way too stupid) to try and reinvent the genre as Scream did. Sadly, now we have really ridiculous horror films like Insidious taking themselves seriously and making a tonne of money. Breaks my heart.
Thank heavens for movies like Hatchet and Dale and Tucker.
