Anyone know if Whoopi does her own singing? My friend and I are having a debate. A website that says she does or not?
Yep, Whoopi did do her own singing. I remember she talked about once in an interview. (On Rosie O'Donnell's show, I believe.) She mentioned that people were always surprised when they found out it was her.
I thought she did a great job.
That response is correct. It is even revealed in the interviews on the DVD.

Whoopi also sang in another film called "Boys on the side" (or something like that). Her partners in the film were Drew Barrymore, Mary-Louise Parker and Matthew McConaughey.
I remember the song Whoopi performed at the beginning of the film, I don't remember the exact title, it's a famous rock song (I know Janis Joplin sang it) that goes "Take another little piece of my heart" (perhaps that's actually the song title !)
