of Pedro Almodóvar's 1983 comedy "Entre tinieblas" (dark habits)? it's the exact same plot as the sister act series. check that film out here: "http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085496/"
You can hardly compare Almodovar to Hollywood. for a start that's effectively blasphemy, secondly this plot (or plots similar to it) have been done many a time, Almodovar certainly didn't invent it, one example would be Nuns on the Run, two men witness a crime and hide from the mobsters in a convent, disguising themselves as nuns. There's just something entertaining about people hiding in convents with nuns, it was film's answer to a new wave of "culture shock" films. The film about people who have to go live with a differnt culture had been done so many times, so Hollywood recreates a guaranteed to be entertaining formula by using nuns.

But...I mean...she gets to the convent, and then she saves it with singing...all 3 acts are the same. Of course, I've never seen Sister Act, but the summaries are almost identical.
Summaries can be misleading. For starters Sister Act's plot is intended for family audiences so the narrative is much more linear and grounded than any of Almodovar's work, secondly she doesn't "save" the convent, she modernises the image of the convent, yes, but the main focus of the story is the effect Deloris' personality has on the run down community surrounding the convent which has lost faith in religion and is ignored by the convent, there is a sub-plot involving Deloris' attempts to turn the nuns into a hip-happ'nin' choir in time for their performance in front of the Pope, but that really is a secondary plot to the murder plot and the saving the community plot.

Okay. Just sounds suspiciously close. I know I see a lot of American films and think, "Gee, isn't that just like (insert non-English language film from recent past)" so I wouldn't put it past some of the creatives involved with this film to simply pretend the films aren't related.
having just finished 'entre tinieblas' i must say it's a ripoff. a plastic cup of instant pudding in comparison to almodovar's dark and savory flan of film.
