"Give me some space bugeye, your breath smells like bantha poo-doo!"
Oh!
I was going to exactly the same thing but pepperfluff beat me to it.
The first one had more of a credible storyline to it, and the songs are now legendary.

I like them both
share1 AND 2 are equaly fun to watch and my favs!!!
I thought the 2nd was more exiting.
"A bird may love a fish sir, but where would they live?"-Danielle (Ever After,1998)
Of course I loved them both, but I like 1 better, because I am familiar with the location it was filmed at, allowing me to develop identity with the characters and lifestyle of the nuns. Especially the young noviciate, Mary Robert age 28, It is so hearfelt that she gave her life to religion and entered the convent. It is likely that if there was a sister act 3, we would get to see a Mary Robert in a full habit. She is so tender, painfully shy but ends up shining more brightly than any of the other nuns, because she found out what was inside her that she would "want to give" that was only her and "nobody else" as she described during her visit with Mary Clarence.
shareThe 1st. one! The 2nd one wasn't that good!
shareNot only that, it kind of looks like a copycat nun movie that was written when someone heard about SISTER ACT's success, and when the studio heads wanted a sequel, they simply adapted it.

I joined IMDB and all I got was this lame-ass signature.
As is almost always the case with sequels, the first one was better because it's fresh and you don't really know what to expect. About 10 minutes into the second film, you can pretty much figure out the rest of the movie. Not that it's not fun to watch, but there are no surprises.
shareI agree with Isaac regarding originals being fresh,novel..I like both, but loved 1 way more, better plot and music, especially the finale "I Will Follow Him". I guess I prefer the Sisters singing like they did in the first movie. And it was creative how Dolores puts a new spin on the songs, which leads to exciting, enthusiastic change in the choir, convent, church and neighborhood. Even the Pope makes a visit along with camera crews
