I saw it last night - the first showing after Whoopi had to pull out. Her replacement got a standing ovation. It was very good but I felt that it lacked a catchy song. Don't get me wrong, all the songs are very good, but there wasn't a song that was catchy enough for me to be humming all the way home. Plus none of the songs that were in the movie are in the stage version. I assume this is because of copyright. But I thought it would've been nice to have some link between the two versions, especially as they'd be songs that the audience would recognise! I wanted to sing along to "My God" In addition the musical follows a different storyline to the movie. Lt Souther is a love interest and he is a bit on the weedy side: desk job and with his gun locked in a drawer. However the stage set was amazing, Sister Mary Patrick was very funny and the cast was just fab.
If you get a chance to see it I suggest that you do. Hope this helps.

that's most helpful! thank you very much. am a bit gutted that none of the film songs are in the stage show tho. but like you said, must be a copyright issue
thanks again!
