latin lyrics

i've been looking everywhere for a translation of the latin verse of 'hail, holy queen'. and it's seemed to be impossible to find! or perhaps i've just been working from an off translation...

can anyone help?

thanks in advance!

It is not sung in Latin, it English.

maybe you're thinking of the part when they say "Triumph all ye cherubim! Sing with us ye seraphim!" Cherubim and seraphim are two types of angels. I believe they are the highest ranked in the "angel hierarchy".

Thanks from another fan! Several of us have performed a skit based on Sister Act several times. We lip-synch the words, and we have NEVER been able to figure out the words you provided (Virgo respice mater ad spice). When we got to that part, we would simply lip-synch "Pizza, oh pizza, send out for pizza. Sanctus sanctus dominus." We're doing it again in a couple of weeks, and it'll be great to have the real words. On the other hand, it might be just as much fun to sing "Pizza, oh pizza!"

Here you go, two years later (you probably have it by now but I figure, I have no life so why not?) - not too sure of the latin though. Found this online.

Hail holy Queen enthroned above,
Oh Maria,
Hail mother of Mercy and of Love,
Oh Maria,

Triumph all ye cherubim!
Sing with us ye seraphim!
Heaven and Earth, resound the hymn!

Salve (salve), salve, salve Regina!

(Clapping Hands)

Hail holy Queen enthroned above,
Oh Maria,
Hail mother of Mercy and of Love,
Oh Maria,

Triumph all ye cherubim!
Sing with us ye seraphim!
Heaven and Earth, resound the hymn!

Salve, salve-salve, salve Regina!

(Piano)

Our life, our sweetness here below,
(Oh-o-o)Oh Maria,
Our hope in sorrow and in woe (woe-oh-oh),
Oh Maria,

Triumph all ye cherubim (cherubim),
Sing with us ye seraphim (seraphim),
Heaven and Earth resound the Hymn!

Salve, salve-salve, salve Regina!

A-le-lu-iah

Mater ad mater inter marata
Sanctus sanctus dominus
Virgo respice mater ad spice
Sanctus sanctus dominus

A-le-lu-iah (A-le-lu-iah)

Our life, our sweetness here below,
Oh-o-oh-o Maria,
Our hope in sorrow and in woe,
Woh-o-oh-o Maria,

Triumph all ye cherubim (cherubim),
Sing with us ye seraphim (sweet seraphim)
Heaven and Earth, resound the Hymn!

Salve, salve-salve, salve Regina! (Salve yeah)
Salve Regina! (woh-o-oh)
Salve Regina!

Thanks, Lunatick, but the OP asked for a translation of the Latin verse.

Mater ad mater inter marata
Sanctus sanctus dominus
Virgo respice mater ad spice
Sanctus sanctus dominus

Loosely translated it means:

Mother oh mother undefiled
Holy holy Lord
Virgin regard us, Mother look at us
Holy holy Lord
