How come the nuns are faster? (*spoiler* )

I've watched this movie a lot and I'm sad to say this is the first time I picked it up..

(*spoiler* )

How come it took the police so long to arrive at the Moonlight Lounge?

Detective Souther knew that's where they took Dolores because Sister Mary Roberts told him after she was pushed out of the car. Then he takes off presumably back to Reno.

So in the next scene, Sister Mary Roberts told all the nuns and they guilt trip the helicopter pilot to take them to Reno.

We see the cops pull up only after the nuns were already in the casino helping Dolores escape. But how? After all, the police were stationed IN Reno, and they knew where to go - so what took them so long??

It could either be that:

1. A goof that the writers didn't even think about or think that the audience would notice.

2. They waited for Souther to get back to the police station to put together their plan of action and so between him getting back to the airport and flying back to Reno and then driving to the police station and them putting together their plan that may account for the time it took for the nuns to get there...maybe...

If 2 is true, then I'm not surprised that all the previous witnesses "kinda disappeared".

It's because Souther is a better shot than he is a protector.
