random question

okay random question, but the first time the nuns have dinner, and they're introduced to Mary Clarence, what are they eating? It looks like oatmeal, or gruel, or something like that. Does anybody know what it is?

reply

porridge. with veggie bits in i think. looks gruesome. vow of poverty and all, no time to make tasty food i guess

BOOOO! get off the stage! *throws bits of salad randomly around*
Reuters? where's that?

reply

Oh, I thought it was some kind of bean chilli....lol

reply

they wouldn't go out of their way to make food nice in a convent would they?

I've just seen Peneople Keith in my supermarket! Buying low fat ketchup would you believe?

reply

I actually visited a convent b/c my friend's aunt was a nun, and while they DID have the vow of poverty, they still made an effort to make good tasting food that didn't look like it had already been digested. I always thought that was kind of stupid, and if they had a vow of poverty, why did they spend money on glass salt-shakers when you can get shakers already filled for like 99c?

It looked like bean soup or chili to me. Whatever it was, it looked really nasty. I agree, if they vowed to live in poverty, why even HAVE salt shakers at all?

reply

Very true, but I guess poverty doesn't have to mean being completely miserable. The thing is, isn't it just as easy to take all those tomatoes and make a REALLY great sauce for cheap and just buy pasta which isn't expensive anyway. Oh well, kind of a stupid thing to overanalyze, but it's fun :)
