The difference between Monsignor
Monsignor is a "rank" in the Roman Catholic Church. A BISHOP gets a ring.

shareAnd I believe Monsignors can get married while full priests cannot. A priest ranks higher than a monsignor.
shareSorry none of Roman Catholic clergy can get married
shareYou're thinking of deacons. They can be ordained to the deaconate as married men but if their wife dies, they can't remarry. A single man who becomes a deacon cannot marry either.
shareI was raised Catholic and was always lead to believe that the monsignor was higher than a priest. and neither can marry. a deacon can though.
shareMonsignor is higher than priest :) He works more closely with the bishop. A man can become a deacon if he is married, but once a guy enters religious life, he cannot get married.
God bless!
Many years ago when a parish had maybe 4 or five priests a Monsignor was the Head priest aka equivalent in some respects to the revrend mother of a convent. Now a days its used for a retired priest as an honary doctarite term.
Basil: Don't mention the war. I mentioned it once, but I think I got away with it.
Incorrect. A monsignor is a priest that has been bestowed that special title by the Pope. It's not a rank like Bishop, more of an honor like an OBE.
