Detective figures out who the leak is--how did he know?

Now, I checked each message on this board before I posted. If I missed it I am sorry. My question is when the Detective (Bill Nunn) realizes he forgot something and goes back he calls to everyone else "Plug him up boys...we found are leak!"

Now, We as the viewer see the other Detective (bad one) reading the invoice for $10000 to St. Vincents....but HOW did the good Detective put 2 and 2 together?

He went from forgetting something at his desk to the other guy ordering, getting an authorized signature? Am I putting this out to you all correctly? In my mind the bad detective was just getting a signature..how did the good detective know he was the leak?

Sorry if I did not explain this too well. Thank you and have a nice weekend.

When Bill Nunn comes back, the man with the folder says Tate (the "bad" detective) told him to leave the money vouches with him and he (bill nunn) would sign for them later. That's when Bill Nunn put two and two together.

Every person that served can be called a veteran, but not every veteran can be called a Marine.

Yeah, I know that part, just not sure how that would cause him to put Tate as the leak since Tate and him were working on the case together....but then again I am over thinking it. Thank you for reply!!!
