I love the film but the plot doesnt make sense

OK so Delores has to hide out in the convent because its a safe place and wont be detected by Vince. fair enough. but why does she have to become a nun?? you mean to tell me they cant just give her a room and 3 meals a day without her becoming one?? I dont get it.

reply

she has to live a new life so as not to draw attention to herself. they had to make her fit in with the others as a nun so word didn't get out that the convent was sheltering a strange woman.

reply

How would the word get out??? The nuns dont even need to see her...as soon as she got there the head nun couldve just stuffed her in the room for the entire two months and come by only to feed her and check on her. She didnt have to become a nun or interact with them. But that would make a far less interesting film tho.....

reply

If they did that, there would be no movie. Simple as that.

"Hail to the King, Baby!"

The nuns would have to know she was there. Someone would need to make meals and take them to her. She would need to leave her room to use the rest room. (It's obvious from the appearance of her "cell" that it does not contain a rest room, like a motel room would.) The nuns would surely wonder who this non-nun was, and altho they don't leave the convent, a delivery man or church attender might overhear them talking.

... and yes; it is just a movie.

The thing that makes least sense is the idea that a convent wouldn't have someone who knew how to create a decent choir. i mean, convents have been producing choirs since early medieval times, you'd think they'd have the hang of it by now and not require lessons from a pop singer.

reply

Oh, come on....even nuns have eyes and ears; they would have known SOMETHING was up...
