Seems like the movie just existed to have a soundtrack.Hell, it's probably called 'Singles' as in music, not single undwed people. Almost like Cameron Crowe wanted to be the first to exploit the grunge scene in film. Dillon sucks in it. The only one that works it it Bridget Fonda, who was always captivating.

Campbell Scott...one of the most boring actors..ever.
Kyra Sedgwick...face like an ice grater. Everytime she acted screwy I wanted to punch her.

I know Cameron Crowe movies don't necessarily have plots, but they usually have interesting material. Not here.

Did you just see this movie? Within the last year? Because if you were not around to see it back in 1992, then I don't think your opinion counts the same way. If you are a 20-something who is just ticking this movie off your watch list on Netflix, then I can see why you don't get this film. You weren't part of the crowd or generation it was marketed to during the era it was created in. Even if you are in the Gen X group, if you did not see this film back in 1992 (or ANY of the early-to-mid 90's), you STILL wouldn't get it; not without your 40-something prejudice attached, that is. It cannot be helped. It's so easy to trash a movie from a couple decades' distance, isn't it? I can think of several movies from that same time period that I thought were great back then; seeing them now, though, makes me think, "What the hell?"

BTW, this movie was in production LONG before the "grunge" scene ever became well-known (see mid-80's). The only reason it didn't come out until September of 1992 was because it was held up for years in the production process.
