couple of questions re Charlie Dillon

(1) Was he going to miss his block at the end of the St Lukes game on purpose? And that's why David had to grab him and throw him in to it?

(2) What was coach thinking making him half-back? He's dwarfed by all his team-mates, in terms of both height and build - he's the last person you'd want making blocks or trying to barge past opponents running with the ball, and it's shown that he doesn't have any pace or skill when in possession of the ball to compensate. Even if it was their "weakest spot", give that position to literally any other team member. If you do have to play him because of his family's money, put him at wide receiver but don't throw him the ball, just have him making decoy runs or something.
Which brings me to
(3) Why didn't he just quit the team, and act like it was his decision, save face that way. He was already the cool guy on campus, other guys (McGoo, Mac etc) were a welcome part of the group without having to play, and it's not as if he seemed to enjoy playing or even being part of the team if his lack of celebration is anything to go by - also see my suspicion at point (1).
Damn, why don't all my posts wrap up this smoothly?!

1. No. He was going to miss the block because he was a crap player.

David grabbing him revealed the differences in their abilities.

And Dillon knew it. His 'great block' wasn't even his own doing.

2. Maybe coach was under pressure to put him. Or artistic licence.

3.Why didn't he just quit? His brother was golden boy and he lived in his shadow. And because he was desperate to impress his father.
