Why is being a Jew such a controversial subject?
I'm not religious at all, I feel like being good morally and respecting yourself and others should be enough to push someone to do good. But I'm watching this film and I've noticed in a lot of TV and film Jewish faith seems to be looked down on quite a bit, but never any reason, like its supposed to be looked down on. I know the US is primarily a Christian and Catholic country, but shouldn't a person's personality reflect who they are, not their beliefs? For one, as kids we are given very little choice on what we believe because as soon as we can respond we are shoved in churches or prayer groups, so if a person is Jewish or Christian most of the time its how they grew. Not to put anyone's beliefs down, but if God is all about love, shouldn't showing that love or respect be the first thing you do when a friend opens up his beliefs? Even if you don't agree with those beliefs?
