2 game football season?

I wish their was more of a story during the football year especially after they found out David was Jewish

Good point. It would have been interesting to see how the team responded to David, If they would have blocked for him or caught his passes.

My Catholic high school in the Bronx has an annual game against our rival, which is played every Thanksgiving morning. It's the last game of the season. Other high schools in the New York area, Catholic and non-Catholic, also play Thanksgiving morning. Ours dates back to 1905 (though not played consecutively in the first few years).

I'm guessing the annual "homecoming" game, in the film, is the last football game of the season. Having it on a specific day, at the same time of the year, makes it a tradition that will attract alumni who will donate to the school and enroll their children. It also won't mess up the regular season schedule, which has to be played in advance.

I thought it was interesting that the prior star (Matt Damon's brother), who was described as "playing for the Crimson" could take a Saturday off to attend the prep school game.

I guess we've just gotta assume there were several other games that we're not shown.
It's like in every series of Friday Night Lights, they only seem to play one away game during the regular season!
And, while it would be interesting to see how the reaction on the field after his friends turn on him, that homecoming game against St Lukes does seem to have the feel of being the showpiece end to the season.
I'd like to have seen more games too, it would have broken the film up a bit more.
