Is it really possible to enter a plane via the landing gear?

Is it really possible to climb up into a plane via the landing gear compartment?

I highly doubt it - there wouldnt be an open access... .actually I dont know

reply

yes its possible!
where do you think the wheels go when the plane takes off, once you get into the area, thats why if theres a problem with landing gear you know people have to get to it!
its common sense u can sit on the wheels and come out, the only thing is while the wheels are down with the wind you cant be there until it lands cause it will knock you over and over

If Arnold can exit the same way in the thrilling docu-drama Commando, yes it is indeed possible.

If it happened in 'Commando' then yes, it is entirely possible.

maybe i'll ask the pilot when i board my connecting flight today. i'm sure he won't mind.

Theoretically yes. There are doors separating the landing-gear compartments (each wheel well has one) and the fuselage. This lets the mechanics service the systems that operate the gear without having to do a lot of running back and forth between the cargo hold and the ground.

The likelihood of John Cutter, who as far as we know wasn't an L-1011 mechanic before he went into the security business, being able to find this door in the dark and open it when the latches for it are on the fuselage side is about as high as his knowing right off the top of his head exactly which numbered terminal you have to connect to a power supply, and which power supply you have to use, to operate the fuel dump valves, and to be able to make the connection when he left his roll of wire at home. (Remember kids, make sure you always have a roll of wire in your carry-on bag in case the plane gets hijacked.) Or for that matter, as likely as a terrorist held incommunicado by the FBI being able to alert his confederates as to which flight he's going to LA on in enough time for them to buy plane tickets, get two people hired by the airline and assigned to Charles Rane's flight, and smuggle machine guns onto the plane without anyone noticing.

It beats paying 400 dollars or more for a plane ticket.

reply

Yes, it's definitely possible.

There was a case a few weeks back of two stowaways on a BA flight. One of which fell from the plane at 1400 feet from the undercarriage and got decapitated when he fell into an AC unit on the roof of an office building.

His buddy was a little luckier, they found him in the landing gear but he did a runner.

It may be possible, but not jumping from a speeding squad car to plane taking off as shown here. OMG the way it looked was so *beep* ridiculous how they showed it! They showed Snipes jumping from the car window to the wheel LITERALLY one second before lifting off the ground and the entire plane ascending up into the air. To my knowledge, the speed of a jet aircraft speeding down the runway is over 200 mph the last few seconds before lifting off. That would mean the squad car would also be driving 200 mph. It's not possible for a normal car to go anywhere near that speed, and it sure didn't look anywhere near that speed to the viewer during that second Snipes jumped from car to wheel, and then us seeing Snipes wrapped around that landing gear lift off the ground literally only one second later. It was ridiculous! It would've been much better if Snipes jumped from car to gear while still taxiing, or during that moment the plane is sitting still at the end of the runway right before the engines turn up and the plane begins its acceleration down the runway.
