The bird flip by Beaker

I keep hearing rumors that Beaker gave Scrooge the finger after he told him to leave his office. He and Dr. Benson Honeydew angrily left after Scrooge rudely told them to use the door. After Honeydew says to Beaker "I think we've taken enough of mister SCROOGE's time!" Then Beaker raises his finger, though it's hard to tell which one, and leaves.

I heard this a while ago, and went back to the DVD to check. You have to watch closely, but it's his forefinger he points in the air, as if he's giving Scrooge a good telling off.

the muppets have 4 fingers so how can they give the finger to anyone?

"sir, sir, i gotta check and see if you've soiled yourself, I'll get to you in a moment, sir!"

reply

I think he does. Beaker has 3 fingers, and his middle one goes up when he points at Scrooge.

I always thought he was just waggling his finger in a "shame, shame, the good Lord knows your name" manner.

He even sounds a little like he's saying "shame on you!" in Beak-speak.

Of course, all this is a nice setup for that wonderful moment later on when Beaker gives Scrooge the red scarf...probably the first Christmas gift the man has gotten in thirty years. (Bunsen patting Beaker proudly on the shoulder just makes the moment.)

I saw the movie for the first time and when that scene came up I was like, "Did he just give him the finger?!" I decided to rewind it and I realized it was his index finger. Very funny though.
