Out of all the adaptations of A Christmas Carol I have seen this one by far has remained more faithful to the book than all of them. I'm surprised that out of all the Christmas Carol adaptations out there that it would be the muppets showing the most respect, lol.

Brian Henson in his commentary on the DVD said that of all of the CC adaptations this is the most faithful because they used the original prose as most of Gonzo's lines.
