Muppets, oh really?

I'm a huge fan of the Dicken's story, but I just can't get into non-human actors, almost impossible to take them seriously. The 1951 version will always be the greatest as it should be.

Really? The Dickens story has been beaten to death with so many borderline identical versions, I thought this brought a nice breath of fresh air to the story. Not to mention it made the classic story more accessable for children - encouraging them (well us because I was about four when this came out) to go read the source material if they enjoyed the story.

It's 100% my favorite version of the story.

I wholeheartedly agree. I remember taking my children to the cinema to see this when it was first released. They both have chidren of their own now, who watch this and love it, but would otherwise be too young to understand the other versions.

I have this on DVD and also the soundtrack. An excellent adaptation that bring the kids into this classic.

My sister still cries like a baby during the Tiny Tim story line.

This is my favourite version of A Christmas Carol. A Muppets version could have been far sillier, could have barely skimmed the plot, could have dumbed down every bit of dialogue. Instead we get Dickens much closer to the original than a lot of versions, on kids' level where preschoolers get it and yet kids can grow into the maturity of the tale and not feel like they are reading an entirely different story when they do pick up Dickens. Michael Caine plays so much of his role completely straight, yet is obviously having the time of his life - no wonder he says this is his favourite role.

This is the greatest Christmas Carol adaptation, Christmas film and Muppet movie. I don't wanna oversell it, judge for yourself.
