Ghost of Christmas Present + Hagrid?

As a child, when I first read Harry Potter, my image of Hagrid was really close to the massive bearded puppet guy who plays the Ghost of Christmas Present. Anyone else see this? I mean he's massive, bearded, and has twinkly eyes loike.

He looks a lot more like Robbie Coltrane in my mind now, but whatever. :)

I also found that the 3rd ghost formed the basis of my imaginatory image of the dementors, all creepy and hooded and whatnot.

Any thoughts? x

It's funny you should say that, as Robbie Coltrane appeared in Blackadder's Christmas Carol as the Ghost of Christmas, and his entrance and appearance did resemble that of Hagrid...

Totally agree! Especially the dementors part! But the ghost of christmas present is a good hagrid too.

I know, I totally thought that when I saw the first Harry Potter film! The Ghost of Christmas Past even had a similar nose :L

Every time I read Harry Potter before the movies came out I imagined Hagrid as the ghost of christmas present!! Totally!! I thought I was the only one :-P Every time I read that he had black hair I just ignored that bit lol.

And agreed about the dementors too!!

Well the spirit did say he had thousands of brothers and sisters. Hagrid could be one.

I never made the connection when I first read Harry Potter. However, during the part when Hagrid shows Harry Diagon Alley I IMMEDIATELY thought of this movie. Hagrid looked like him, and that cramped English alley looked reminded me of this movie. Still does.

Yes, i thought this too! I suspect the ghost is supposed to be some kind of Santa representation (hohoho!) but I saw Hagrid too.

Completely envisioned dementors like the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. Was actually disappointed by their appearance in the Prisoner of Azkaban film.
