Based on older films?
My Honduran pal says this film was based on older movies of the same story. Is this true, or is something getting lost in translation here?
shareI don't know of any films that this movie was based on. I do think that El Mariachi's character is based on Django, an old spaghetti western about a man who drags a coffin with a machine gun in it and as you see El Mariachi carries a guitar case with a sub-machine gun that he takes in the end. In Desperado, his character is more like in Django but that's it. The story is original as far as I know.
