i understood a lot abou this movie, or rather, the medical aspect of it.

one thing i didnt get was when a doctor was talking to lorenzos dad about how ALD "couldnt get funding because its such a rare disease, AND OF COURSE THERES THE IRON FIST OF REAGANOMICS TO CONSIDER."

im very politically ignorant, yet curious about this statement. could anyone explain this to me?
