The real Lorenzo Odone died Friday at age 30.

it's amazing he lived as long as he did. At least he's reunited with his mom.

Very sad. I watched this movie in high school. Before his death, did Lorenzo ever show signs of improvement?

I don't think so. I think the oil helps prevent the onset of symptoms but it can't reverse the symptoms once they have occurred.

Just heard the news. And read on Wikipedia that Lorenzo was able to communicate by using modified sign language and blinking his eyes to Yes/No questions.

He got sooooo much better... he could actually do stuff again... he just had to relearn everything

Actually thats not really true.
Lorenzo was blind, paralyzed, tube fed and couldnt speak - remyelination could restore the damage that had been done, but its not yet medically possible.
