Yeah and if you're European that also makes you Indo-European and if you're Indo European then you're African. Your logic is that just because someone's greatest ancestors were European that makes him European forever. Not exactly intelligent. Americans have their own accents, culture, and have left their mark on history so please do them a small favor by letting the be able to call themselves American without having an asterisk by their name.

Apparently, Frankster, you didn't read my post. And not to mention you don't seem to read your posts either. There are actually very little people who are "forst" generation American and consider themselves American. Usually their parents just want them to hold on to their culture from the old country. And while the child usually does embrace American culture anyway he still doesn't call himself American. They are the ones that are brain washed. My friend is Indian but was born in New York. He always talks about how white, white people are. But yet he only listens to the whitest music there is. Rock. And not the good kind. A little off topic but...

Yup, we all come from somewhere.

Obviously the main political agenda was to bash Doctors, Business, and Reagan.

Yet 8 years of billy-jeff bent-peck-r klinton didn't cure Lorenzo.

Maybe the obamessiah will visit the kids and cure them by laying on his hands.

So many posts have been deleted it's hard to know how this conversation has gone, but the Odones and the filmmakers sure didn't miss a chance to call America "a racist country." How did it work out for them? Was Omouri ever murdered by that white extremist they were waiting for? Was he forbidden to eat in "white" restaurants or taunted for being Black as he walked down the street? Inquiring minds want to know.

The only hidden agenda I could see -- well, it wasn't so much hidden as subtle. Michaela from the beginning already was completely devoted to his care and making him well if possible, as a mother. But finding out that Lorenzo got the disease through her, she felt a huge amount of guilt. Watch Susan Sarandon every time getting it through genetics is mentioned, she bows her head or looks away. The only time it is mentioned flat out again is when Augusto starts bitching her out for the way she is treating her sister and refers to her "poisoned blood". This guilt forms the undercurrent of everything she does, as she becomes not only his chief caretaker but his devotee. Lorenzo becomes her religion. She is atoning for her "sin" by committing herself to him so completely that she compromises her own health.

A hidden agenda in a movie starring Susan Sarandon? I am shocked!

The agenda wasn't hidden at all. Typical lefty nonsense.

reply

Indeed. I couldn't even make it past the opening scene which was typical African nonsense.
