is this Stephen King or not?
King claims it is not the same story so is it title only?

"if this movie caused king's fans to be less interested in seeing movies based on his work, then king deserves damages"
While I completely agree that the film makers just wanted to ptomote their film idea by using King's name and story title, I seriously doubt that this very popular movie in any way made people not want to see King movie adaptations. The truth, most King theatrical film adaptations are extremely bad. I tink King got pissed that The Lawnmower Man was a huge sucess, while his film Sleepwalkers was deservedly a major flop. He can get mad all he wants, but The Lawnmower Man was pretty good and well received, while Sleepwalkers was an awful and craptacular excercize in campy idiocy that everyone rightfully ignored. King had a right to get his name removed from the film though, seeing that it in no way reflected his work (besides a mere 60 second sequence). The only damages he deserved was from the fact that New Line didn't remove his name when order to. I mean, who were they to refuse to abide by the ruling of the court?

OK, so what's the speed of dark?
While his early movie adaptations were crap, you are forgeting the blockbuster that came later, like the Green Mile. Also, The Shawshank Redemption, is even listed as one of the top 100 movies on this website. Don't bash the man, fool.

Hey "fool", I was referring to the horror genre, so what I said stands. Just because I called King's hand on this one action, "fool", doesn't mean I don't like him or desire to bash him. Savvy?

Hey TheSolarSailor, did you even read King's short story? This film has nothing to do with it! Is there any mention of fawns in this film? No! Don't rip on King because of his lawsuit against this film. He had every right to remove his name from it because it doesn't follow his story one bit.
Garçon! Coffee!
Not all of his movies are bad, Kubricks The Shining was amazing.
I slew your king, I slew your country. Do these deeds not demand vengeance?

It has a lawnmower in it, so there’s that.
shareOther than there being a lawnmower man, there is no similarity, none to the King story.
Kings story was about the greek god Pan, in a way. Not computers, not mentally challenged, not any of what you see in the movie.
I've never seen the film but I read the short story years ago and I'm positive it was about a guy who literally ran round eating grass.
