Director's Cut
The Director's Cut is fantastic. Much better than the original theatrical release. Anyone know where I can get a copy of it?

shareNot in the U.S. There is a region 2 DVD from England that is a terrible transfer that is in pan and scan and has noise on top of the screen when you watch it on an HD TV. I have it and it's barely worth watching. There is a petition in this forum for putting the director's cut on bluray but it only has a few supporters so far. There was a legal battle over this movie using Stephen King's name even though his short story is completely different. That's why it's like this.
shareThe Special Edition LaserDisc is where it's at! Director's cut in wide-screen with THX mastered sound, as well as a bunch of special features.
shareNew Scream Factory bluray might include extended cut, apparently.
shareThere's an uncut, director's version on VHS
shareShout Factory is releasing both cuts on Blu Ray so just get that! I've pre ordered mine and it's also going to have a brand new documentary with cast and crew, new commentaries for both cuts!
shareThat sounds AWESOME!!!! LOVE THIS movie!!!!
shareThe pre order price has dropped to $20.33(plus shipping)at Amazon.com so I would order it while it's at that price, you can see the features listed on this collector's Edition at hidefdigest.com. It's about time this got a proper release, it's way over due! You can throw out your old unrated VHS and LDs of this movie now and shitty DVD imports LOL!!
shareI would NEVER throw out my vhs. It's sentimental to me lol.
shareI wouldn't either but most consumers would lol! I still collect VHS tapes if they're hard to find releases and very retro.
shareExactly!!!!
shareI'll take physical media any day over digital download but sadly it's becoming a dinosaur with the general public, I just hope DVD and Blu Ray can survive this new digital age! Vinyl/CD is still alive thankfully so maybe it might hold out, we need more company's like Shout Factory to release movies like this because these titles are starting to get lost to time.
shareI think they'll stay around because of the special features/commentaries.
shareAlso just the better quality Discs offer over all, too many collectors thankfully keep shelling out the cash for these releases because in the end the sales will keep these formats alive and of course the bonus content you get with Blu Ray/DVD that digital download doesn't have.
