The opening monologue makes this movie dumb

It wasn't England running the show, it was Scotland. It was King James VI of Scotland who conquered North America. He was the same scumbag who oppressed the Scottish Highlanders as well. It wasn't England who did this crap, it was Scotland. This movie is completely dumb.

This film isn't dumb, very far from it.
See beyond your narrow outlook, please. Chippiness isn't attractive.
Rejoice in the fact that the 2 bravest and most honorable women in this tale were the daughters of an honorable, if stubborn, loyal British (and very Scottish)Officer of the Crown, Col. Munro.
Rejoice too in the fact that Scots immigrants played a huge part in the building of the USA and continue to do so, from the arts to literature to sport to commerce to national politics. (Dare I say Trump is half-Scottish!)
These Scots-Americans are proud of their roots not without justification of course. They tend to be less vocal than a few other immigrant groups but not a bad thing at times.

First, there is no monologue at the beginning of this movie.

Second, this movie takes place approximately 130 years after the death of King James VI.

Third, where exactly did you go to school? That facility should be shut down immediately.

It's rare that I see such a completely inaccurate tangent. From not knowing what a monologue is, to having no clue about historic figures or history in general. All while living in a time with access to more information than has ever before been available.

It's not like this can even be passed off as sarcasm, because even that can't explain away this utter nonsense. Seriously, if I got something this wrong, I'd never speak again without first verifying, and then rechecking, that verification at least 4 times.
