Need to clear up one thing about the different version (possible spoilers)

It has been a long time since I watched the movie but according to my brother the first directors cut ruined the ending/final kill scene of Magua. So aside from all the other changes throughout the film, did the directors definitive edition bring back the original version of the scene from the theatrical version or is it still ruined?

I just saw the original director's cut -- called the Director's Expanded Edition -- and the Magua death scene was the same as the Theatrical version (or really close), but it fumbles the ball with allowing Chingachgook babble on too long at the end with nigh cringe-inducing dialogue. In the Theatrical version he quits after he says "I, Chingachgook, last of the Mohicans," which was the appropriate spot to end the film.

Thanks for clarifying. I ended up buying the Directors Definitive Cut on Blu ray and it did not disappoint
