DVD...

When I got the DVD from Netflix, it was in fullscreen. All of the DVDs on Ebay are all from Brazil, and the only American ones don't say if it's in fullscreen or widescreen. Does anyone own a widescreen American version of the film?

There is a region 2 widescreen version out in september 2005

Does Netflix actually have this? It's been at the top of my queue for the last month or so with the status fluctuating between "very long wait" and "now" but is never sent and whenever I inquire about it, I get their standard answer. Has anyone received it from Netflix lately? TIA.

reply

I had it at the top of my queue for a few weeks before they sent it, also. I don't know what the problem is.

Bless me, father, for I have just killed quite a lot of men.

I bought a DVD copy at Ameoba Records in Los Angeles and it was full-screen and manufactured for sale in Canada. I saw a trailer for "Johnny Suede" on a VHS copy of "Cool World" in the mid-90s.

Has anyone ever seen "Johnny Suede" in widescreen?

Yes, I gotthe Region 2 dvd from the UK. This is a great transfer, in anamorphic widescreen, which is important for this visually impressive film. Best thing is that the stupid narration that was heard in the beginning and end of this film, is gone from this version. For fans of this great film, this is the version to get.

Too bad it isn't released in Region 1. I was at Amoeba this afternoon and saw the DVD in the import section. I was excited because seeing the DVD in person would confirm the region code, but I was disappointed to find that it was Region 2.

Are you the Tenia?

A multi region dvd player is important for this stuff, as there is so many great and obscure films being released in different countries. Like some of the japanese stuff, and the Italian exploit stuff, and more obscure titles that won't have a US release anytime soon. The Johnny Suede dvd came from UK ebay, for about 6 US dollars, but there I got lucky with the price.I think the multi-region players are fairly cheap now.

I haven't found one yet{none}

I know this was posted more than 2 years ago, but I too have had Johnny Suede in my queue for about a year and a half, with the availability being up in the air. However, when I logged on to Netflix last night, I noticed that there is now a date in the availability column- Jan 2008. I guess an official release is FINALLY happening. I've loved this movie from when I first saw it in '91,when I was 11 years old! Can't wait to see that midget cowboy again!

No wait at all on Blockbuster online.

I got it just fine on Netflix.

reply

Yeah, that's because the movie was finally released on DVD. About a year ago when I put it on my queue, that wasn't the case.
