Ruth Wilcox
Was Ruth Wilcox (Vanessa Redgrave) addicted to some kind of medication? What was in that little glass she kept dipping into? Vanessa was wonderful in the role, but I got the feeling that whatever Ruth's illness was, and requiring an operation, might have been something that caused her physical pain, and she was taking some kind of medication that made her sound a little dreamy. What do you think?
