Quote about 'Women making a discussion lively'

There is a scene where several of the characters are sitting at a table, and a comment is made about women in discussions and how their contribution kept the conversation lively or interesting. Can anyone tell me the quote?

The scene is in chapter 10. Margaret and Helen are having tea with Leonard Bast.

Margaret: Mr. Bast, I fear you may have thought our letter a little odd.

Helen: We're not odd really, we're just over expressive, that's all.

Leonard: The more a lady has to say, the better. Ladies brighten every conversation.

The irony is that his slavish attention to what they tell him ends up destroying him.
