World Trade Center scene

Home Alone 2 famously has a scene that features the World Trade Center and Kevin even goes up on the observation deck. This movie was still playing in over 1000 theaters when the original bombing attack happened of the WTC happened on February 26 1993. If that attack had fully succeeded it's goal and took both towers down how would this scene have been handled in the immediate aftermath? Would it have possibly been edited in some way or even completely taken out right on the spot?

Probably pulled the film completely, rather than send the remaining theaters an edited version.

But generally I don't really understand altering films that were pre-9/11. It's like pretending they never stood to begin with.

You're absolutely right. I completely agree with your view on this. While 9/11 is a painful memory, pretending like the World Trade Center never existed was never the right answer. At that point we're pretty much letting the bad guys win if we're deleting our history and pretending like it never happened.
