Was Kevin's family disfunctional or was Kevin a brat?

Which of the two do you think was the case? Or a little bit of both? I mean Buzz did humiliate Kevin.

In the first movie Kevin was a brat with a slight dysfunctional family. In the 2nd movie its a completely dysfunctional family and Kevin is a slight brat.

Buzz and Uncle Frank are narcissists and the rest of the family are their enablers, and Kevin is the scapegoat for all their frustrations since he is the youngest child
