'Hero' = Spidey's big brother

Ever notice that Laura Ziskin and Alvin Sargent--credited for the story of 'Hero'--produced and wrote 'Spider-Man 2'? [Ziskin producing and Sargent writing, that is.]

Perhaps that explains why 'Hero' is so good--or maybe it's the other way around. The point being that you can really see some of the same sets fingerprints on both films.

Here, however, the story (and especially humor) doesn't have all that action taking time away from it (not that I dislike action).
...anyway, just thinking.

Not that anybody's checking this post, but I agree wholeheartedly. This is why I logged in here having just watched Spiderman 2 on video. I think Hero is one of the most brilliantly made US films of all time. No other movie affected me as deeply mentally and emotionally. I can't even say what it is exactly. Perhaps the perfectly timed architecture of moments. Spiderman 2 is not as good as Hero, in my view, but it shares a lot of the same sensibilities and beats. I had been looking for Ziskin/Sargent movies on IMDB when I first watched Hero, but didn't find anything. Finally, there is one.

Actually, there is another 'Ziskin/Sargent' out there.
WHAT ABOUT BOB?
I just got it off the bargain bin at Walmart. Not bad, but no HERO.

When I watched What About Bob ooh...12 years ago when I was 15, I thought this was the most hysterical comedy I've seen. Now it may have been just youthful maximalism or maybe an uncanny wiff of good fortune to combine Bill Murray's tempered acting with the Ziskin/Sargent writing/production. It can't be a coincidence that in the top ten movies on my list is the Groundhog Day. It is an all-around winner and an uncontested one for its budget.
