I was wondering about this when I watched this movie.To wit : Was the role of Bernie Laplante originally meant for Danny DeVito?

I would appreciate any answers,thank you very much.

Geena Davis is noted for being six feet tall. Danny DeVito is 5'2" I believe. Dustin Hoffman is 5'7". Andy Garcia, I assume, is around 6 feet. The height differential between Danny DeVito and Andy Garcia would have been noticed by everybody - not just Geena Davis in the re-enactment scene.

I can't imagine anyone else in that role, I think no one can do it liek Dustin Hoffman, for me, he was brilliant
