Correct me if I'm wrong: um, when Geena Davis' character saw Bernie on the ledge with John with his face smudged, was that when she knew Bernie was the true hero? And when she spoke privately with him, was he denying it, when she asked him point blank if he saved her? Yet she knew it was him anyway, but was honoring his desire to stay anonymous? Second question: so John really was a Vietnam veteran? That about him saving his comrades, that was real? Just not him on the plane.

Yes - I think you are right on all counts: Geena figured it out when he was ont he ledge, and their exchange afterward is exactly what you think, and yes - I think he was really a hero in Vietnam.

Okay, thank you. I just needed it confirmed. So Bubber's heroic deed in Vietnam was real, according to that interview with a fellow Vietnam vet, just not real with the airline crash.
