my favorite part of the movie, has got to be on the ledge when geena davis realizes that dustin hoffman saved her life, and the part in the room, where she says did you save my life? and he says "lady do I look dumb enough to go into a burning plane and save fifty four people, I ain't the type " LOL ..
Sweet and touching, if not a little expected. It simply wouldn't be complete without it.
I was hoping against hope that Bernie would "sell out" and that Gale would shower him with adulation that he deserved, but Hoffman's character stayed faithful to the sardonic character that he really was. Very good and surprisingly underrated film and story. Very touching story.
My favorite part is when they're editing the interview for a commercial (or something), and Geena Davis has them stop it on a particular frame where there's a really beautiful glint in Bubber's eye, and she's like "that's the moment right there."
I think it's a great irony that at the moment she picks that show show beautiful he is, he's actually saying the only reason he came forward was for the money.
I like at the end when Bernie told his son the truth at the zoo. Then gone to save the little girl from the lion cage and told his son hold my shoes LOL.
The part that almost made me cry was near the great exchange between Bernie and Gale in the end. It's when she says to him to at least tell his son who his dad is. That's so beautiful. It's things like that that matter.
excellent movie, my favorite part is the bulls*** speech to his son at the end:
"You remember what I said how I was gonna explain about life buddy? ...well the thing about life is, it gets wierd. People are always talking to ya about truth, everybody always knows what the truth is like it was toilet paper or somethin and they got a supply in the closet. But what you learn, as you get older, is there ain't no truth. All there is, is bulls***, (pardon my vulgarity here). Layers of it, one layer of bulls*** on top of another. And what you do in life when you get older is, you pick the layer of bulls*** you prefer, and thats your bulls***, so to speak. You got that?"
"No"
================== astrolupine: even with makeup, you can't make an actor's face look like a chair
...the part where Bernie is trying to confront Bubber and the cop stops him saying something like, "if it makes you feel better to put down a man who's worth about 100 of you, then go ahead. Like he said, 'We're all heroes.'"
To which Bernie replies, "That's a lot of bull *beep*
And then the cop responds, "Fine. Have it your own way. You're not a hero."
