Most F-bombs ever in a PG-13 movie?
I think yes.
shareI have to admit I was surprised by the amount of profanity in this film. I think the trivia section was exaggerating a bit. I counted only 4 uses of the F-word, but one of its uses was in a sexual context, which is supposedly forbidden in a PG-13 movie. But aside from the F-bombs, the word G--damn was used pervasively. The MPAA must've been a lot less strict back in 1992 (or whenever the film was released). I mean, "Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion" received an R-rating, and that was practically a kiddie film. From my standpoint, I still don't think "Hero" should've gotten an R-rating. It's just being an avid movie watcher for so long, I know the MPAA's rules like the back of my hand, and I was just taken by surprise.
shareHave you seen Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion? There a lot of f bombs in that movie!
shareThis movie would have been Rated R today. This is back in the day when MPAA was less strict.
shareThe Song Remains The Same the concert movie from Led Zeppelin has a scene where the manager goes ballistic on a person and uses quite a bit of profanity. Lots of f bombs and that was PG, however it was 1976..
shareI didn't think the film was particularly memorable, but the language was all in context.
shareRomy and Michele was R, but feels closer to PG-13.
Light movies containing only a few f words shouldn't be rated R.
I think most of the MPAA were asleep while Hero was going through the ratings process. Yes, I agree this film probably holds the record for the most f-bombs in cinematic history. A little trivia: Running On Empty was given an R rating originally in 1988 because of the scene where the dad says the f-word less than 5 times. ROM was successfully changed on an appeal to a PG-13. Terms Of Endearment was also originally given the R rating in 1983 due to language and that film didn't contain any f-bombs. Terms was successfully changed on an appeal from an R to a PG. Although when Terms was released to theaters in Nov 1983, the PG-13 was about 8 months away to being used by the MPAA. Hero is a good film, I have and own thousands of movies and was even surprised that Hero wasn't given an R due to strong language. Also, it was funny they used that word in a sexual context quite a few times throughout the picture. I can't believe the MPAA didn't catch on to that.
shareTerms of Endearment does contain the F word three times.
shareA Family Thing has four f-bombs.
